"World War One determined the timing of democratic change"

Get to know Edd Cox !
Hi my name is Edd Cox. I am 20 years old.
I am a Great Britian soldier.
I am married to Laura Cox.
We have 1 child, Johnny. He is only 2.
I rarely get to see my family because of my being a soldier.
Now that I am in war it is only worse.
I'm always away from home.
I love my country though. That is what made me decide to become a soldier.

After being shot he said one word "Sofia" to his wounded wife. After that he died almost instantly. This affected my country because it later led to Russia leaving the war.

Life in the trenches: Life in the trenches seemed endless. All day was spent firing and terrible weather. We sat in the trenches through rain, snow, and freezing cold weather. Some of us were got frost bite "trench foot". On Christmas eve we had a "Christmas truce". Both sides of the war recieved packages with food and gifts. We drank and talked and played cards. After Christmas was over we went back to war.

Here are the trenches(: that we use during the war.

December 8, 1915:
My nation got involved in the war in defense of Belgum and in reaction to Germany's violation of the treaty of London. In the treaty Belgum was guaranteed their freedom. When Germany went through Belgum to get to France. They attacked them, violating the treaty. That is where my country comes in. We joined the war to defend Belgum.

December 15, 1915:
I haven't been here for that long but it seems like forever. I miss home. I miss my family. It's so much different here than it is back home. It's probably warm back home, but here it's cold and wet. Me and some other soldiers sit around and talk but it's not like being home. Most of my day during war is spent in the trenches. Now we have the ability to use machine guns in war which makes things more effective. The machine guns are a lot bigger and more powerful than the weapons we used to use. More people will get killed at once.

Schlieffen plan

Propaganda posters like these were used during war to convince people to join. These posters are all over Britain.
